Can your IT department or senior managers legally eavesdrop on your employees, or are there issues with reasonable expectations of privacy? What steps are lawful or unlawful in defending corporate data assets? Are honeypot's lawful?
Join Peter Edelmann and Henry Waldock, two experienced British Columbia lawyers who will lead a Q & A style discussion on a wide range of legal issues and topics, past, present, and future. Peter Edelmann is a criminal defence and immigration lawyer practicing in Vancouver, BC. He teaches law for computer and IT professionals in the Forensics Programme at the British Columbia Institute of Technology.
Henry Waldock is a trial lawyer for Crown Counsel in Chilliwack BC, and has practiced law since 1990. He spends the majority of his time "in the trenches prosecuting criminal offences", and when he isn't doing that it's likely that he can found engaged in policy research for the Ministry of Attorney General's Criminal Justice Branch or teaching law to members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and other law enforcement agencies at the Pacific Regional Training Centre. Henry also maintains two manuals on Criminal Law in his spare time - "Criminal Law Evidence, Practice and Procedure" and "Canadian Criminal Code Offences".
